Human Resource

At the present level, some 2500 staff including over 2100 teachers, (89% women with HSC and trained), about 150 supervisory staff and 16 trainers are engaged.

Schools

700 full primary schools mostly in the rural areas each with 3-6 spacious, well-lit rooms, with tube-wells, toilets and a playground built on community donated land.

Training capacity

3 custom built Regional Training Centres (RTC) respectively in Khulna, Mymensingh and Saidpur. Each of these RTCs has capacity to provide residential training to up to 60 participants in two batches (30 x 2= 60) simultaneously; and each is supported by a cluster of
6-10 Training Schools to provide school based hands-on experience to the trainees.

Strong Property Base

• • • • Prime Land in the capital city centre :   GSS also owns 1 acre of prime property in Tejgaon, in the heart of the capital city of Dhaka. One study (Parthenon) suggested when developed, this could generate sufficient revenue to make two-thirds of the GSS schools sustainable.

• • • • Property in major District towns and Cluster Offices at Upazila level: GSS owns 6 prime properties in 6 major district towns, 12 custom built Cluster offices and land owned in 17 major upazilas. The proceeds from the district level lands, when developed, could contribute meaningfully towards sustainability of the schools in the regions.

• • • • Over 200 acres of school land:   The 700 schools are built on GSS owned property initially donated by the community.

• • • • 14 acres of land for development of Income generating Activities: In addition, GSS owns some 14 acres of commercially valuable and industrial plots
